I'm back...

Hey fellow bookies! First and foremost, I know I have a lot of apologizing to do... I have not been very good with doing posts. I just started high school (!?) and it is very very different. Today I though it would be fun to share my list of how high school in real life compares to high schools in books....

HARRY POTTER- Although I've seen a lot of kids dressing up in cloaks and even fairy wings, I have yet to see any magic.

THE CLIQUE- I do wish our cafeteria had a Batista and sushi options, but I will just have to stick with a packed lunch.

TWILIGHT- As crazy as my school is, I don't think anyone wants to suck my blood... yet.

PRETTY LITTLE LIARS- The only "scary" note i have received is from a school gang.

So, there is my ( short) list of books compared to my life. If you are still in the mood for a good dose of high school drama, I suggest Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson or of course the Clique series by Lisi Harrison. Yes, these are all chick-lit books, but it is well worth your time. Well, I am off now to my "real" high school life... safe reading!

Post about writing ( from an author wannabe)

I know I haven't posted nor has Autumn in a while. But that is what happens when you go to Grandma's house in the woods with no internet connection or cell service... yet Grandpa needed a flat screen TV. Not that I'm complaining; I brought many books with me. But let's just say it was an interesting Thanksgiving. But while I was reading and having fewer and fewer books to read, I came across one not so very popular and a popular book that had writing styles that irked me.... very much.
    

I think it's just me, but as I read on with each of these books I became more aggravated. Since I have begun to review and write a novel myself, I've become picky on writing styles. And a have a very big problem with the writing style, if it is one, TELL NOT SHOW . I thought an author's goal was to show you if some one is panicking or nervous not blatantly stating that they are. Anyway, besides that fact I had no problem with about the story lines. Both interesting and unique. if you look beyond, like most readers would do, the writing style they were a refreshing read. Yet, for me at least, I worry about where the good writing has gone... next teens will be thinking " There was a dog named Spot. He was a black and white dog. He liked noodles..."" was good literature.






Maybe I'm being too harsh, but yeah, that's how I see it.

Don't you just love the cover! To be honest the cover was what caught my eye and then I began to read. I did not have high expectations for this book in the beginning.  Fallen, Halo, and Shy Dead Girl had been published when I began reading hush, hush so falling for an angel was not new to me. But boy, and yes I just said boy, this has to be my favorate out of all those books. Becca Fitzpatrick knows how to paint and scene and leave you wanting more.  She also creates lovable characters that in some cases do stupid, but funny things. Hush, hush was simular to Twilight in how the two characters met, but the simularties end there. Patch literally pulls Nora towards him while Edwards pushes Belle back.

Can I say I liked this book better because....

A)  Bella didn't have the awesome Vee with her color "diet" for a best friend.

B) Nora's got spunk and will try things that Bella wouldn't do in big heels and a blonde wig.

C) Patch is one hard sexy, dark, mysteroius love interest to beat ( sorry Edward or Jacob or Daniel or.....)

The list goes on.... Read it. Your life wil be complete unil tomorrow when I find another awesome book to review.

As some of us may know of Cassandra Clare's other works ( TMI!!!!!!) and that they are brilliant. So is Clockwork Angel. But.... I agree with the people that state it's more a repetition of the story line from TMI only with different, names, faces, and powers and also CA is 200 years earlier.  Some of the characters were also duplicates of each other. Especially with Will and Jace. However, Tessa had more spunk in her than Clary and Jem certainly isn't another Simon ( not that I don't love Simon). 
With that all said, Clockwork Angel was a delightful read and I will be looking forward to Clockwork Prince next fall and hopefully will learn more about Will and his mysterious past.... and maybe Jem's.  People who have not read TMI could read Clockwork Angel and not spoil the other series. I recommend that you start with TMI first so that you're used to the world of the Shadow Hunters. But it's your choice. Besides, you might like getting lost in the billowing skirts and the fancy top hats of the 1800's.

It's a tough beat that's about to get tougher, as Beka's limited ability to communicate with the dead clues her in to an underworld conspiracy. Someone close to Beka is using dark magic to profit from the Lower City's criminal enterprises--and the result is a crime wave the likes of which the Provost's Guard has never seen before.

The tale of Beka Cooper is not only one of the best Tamora books ( to me), but the most prosmising.  To be fair I haven't read Protector of the Small yet.... And I mean yet. Anyway, characters and places I could see, hear, and touch. I also liked that the "quest" she set out to do was realistic ( not that I don't like the other kinds too). Kidnapping, murdars, handsome coves; The Lower City is a fine place to be in 240.

I  recommend reading Alanna's series first and then her daughters ( Trickster's) before reading about Beka. But Terrier can stand on its own. Either way readers will enjoy Beka's story.  The characters are all vivid and lively with thier past and presents just as myestrious furtures.

But as she writes letter after letter, she begins to realize that the past wasn't as perfect as she thought it was—and the present deserves a chance, too.

When I first starting to read Elizabeth Scott's books, they were witty, charming, and basically a nice light read to have while wasting a weekend on the couch ( WHICH is not really wasting) .  Love You,  Hate You, Miss You is a nice, yet sad break from her usual writing.  Although I didn't agree with some of the characters choices, I could relate. What would you do if you you best friend died and everyone blames you, your parents finally started paying attention to your life, and if you were and wanted to be utterly alone? I wish Scott had elaborated a little more on how Julia was a good friend, made her more lovable, but it's not the first time someones best friend wasn't the "best" friend for them. But I also liked how Scott used letters to convey and move the story forward. All in all, pretty good read and will probably read Living Dead Girl.

What you must realize is that the people living in the Society are living a perfect life. Why fight back? True there are limits to what you can and cannot do, but you know when you'll die, you don't have to worry about dating, and you get the job that's best suited for you.

But it's the perfect life; no suffering. But for Cassia there is a lot of internal anguish as she questions all she's ever known and ventures into thinking things she's never thought before.  

I enjoyed how Ally Condie made me think and uncomfortable about the fact of no choice. I live in America and I can choose to wear a read or blue shirt, dress, or even pants. But in the Society, your meals are chosen by them and you have to wear a gray uniform on a daily bases. Everything is regulated be the Society. The people just do what they're told. 

Although I enjoyed the book, I must say ( and I do) is that I probably wont buy the next one. I'm not saying the book is not worth your time, it's just that it was not my cup of tea.

 I must say that this book is going to be a bestseller. If it's not, I'll be really sad and more importantly IT JUST GOING TO BE A BESTSELLER! Andera Creamer twists a new refreshing tale about werewolves and the oh so classic theme: love. I admit that when I first received my ARC copy in the mail I though Oh, great... another werewolf novel! But I'm glad a forgot my other ARC copy of Matched in my locker and was forced to picked this book up. Calla is a a strong, butt-kicking heroine and has always done what's right for her pack and family, so if she decided to be a little selfish and save the cute boy on the hill.... so be it Keepers!

Anyway, Calla isn't the only interesting character in the story. There's Mason, Sabine, Shay... REN! They are all lovely in there own ways, even if some can become annoying. But I must say before I go on that for some odd reason I like Ren better then Shay. Ren seemed more real, tragic, and well... lovable. So if you find yourself on Team Ren, you're not alone.

Now I feel I must stop for fear of spoiling anything. You guys have no idea how many times I've pushed the delete key!

Guess What I Got!

Listen up and Listen well, some of my teachers may say. I just had a very--VERY awesome surprise yesterday. You want to know what it is? Well, if you don't stop reading, but yesterday I came home beat after a day at school and lugging around my heavy backpack. Then... I look at my front porch step and there is a black, rectangle box, that has a label addressed to me from Razor Bill. And I GOT....

I wonder what I will do with them, after I read them. Only a few can sit on my over crowed bookshelf... 
Mmmmmmmm. What to do. Anyway, I'm half way through Nightshade and almost DONE with Matched.

Time to get Classy!

We all may remember that little, redheaded, eleven year-old girl, Anne. ALWAYS spelled with an 'e'. Yep, that's right; Anne of Green Gables! This book has celebrated it's 100th birthday two years ago and it's like wine. The more it ages, the better it tastes.
( My book summary):

Siblings Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert are growing old and can’t do as much work as they’re use to on their little farm called Green Gables. So they decide to adopt an orphan boy to help around the farm. But with a little mistake, it’s not a boy who shows up at their doorstep, it’s Anne Shirley; an eleven year-old girl with a temper to make her head of “carrots”, a dramatic streak, and a great deal of imagination.

      Anne had already won Matthews’s heart, but Marilla’s was a different story. Yet, after a few chats with Anne and an in counter with a possible, but horrid new foster mom for Anne, Marilla’s decides to let Anne stay. However, Anne Shirley is a lot to handle and often gets into scarps. After flying at Mrs. Lynde, the woman who knows everyone’s business, for calling Anne straight out ugly, breaking a slate a top the handsome Gilbert Blythe’s head, to dying her hair green. The people of Avonlea wonder what Marilla and Matthew of gotten into.

Isn't it pretty!

Rating: Four Stars!


Forget you is a tale about Zoey; A teenage girl, who deals with her problems by trying to be perfect and always in control. Although, Zoey has enough problems as it is with her parent's recent splint after her father got his 24 year-old secretary pregnant and her mom's recent attempt at suicide . But add in a crash, that leaves Zoey grappling to know what happened the night before leaves her powerless. What she had planned to do, isn't what she seemed to have done. If she didn't go parking with Brandon, then what did she do? As she battles with her consuming fear she tries to figure out what really happened without anyone finding out she doesn't remember. And why is it that Doug, dark and sarcastic Doug, is always around instead of her golden boy, boyfriend Brandon? And why might she is happy about that?


Like every good book it had it's flaws, but it's a tiny pearl inside the great sea of books. The story never became dull  and you went  on an emotional whirlwind with Zoey as strangles to get through her senior* year of high school.

Suite Scarlet

This series was quiet a disappointment, to say the least. It is about a girl who lives in a hotel with her wacky family, and runs one of the suites. I had ordered this book to be sent in from the library, with an array of many good reviews to back me up. As I finally started to read the begaining, I soon got an awful feeling in the pit of my stomach. This is a feeling of disappointment. I duilifully read the rest of the book, but got done with dread. The end was very good, but the rest of the book sunk me into deep depression.I would give this book 2 stars.
